About Me
Bonjour... My name is Lydia Snape and currently I am a 20 year old student studying international fashion marketing in my second year at university. I have chosen this course, as fashion is an inspiration to me, I am appreciative of all different forms and interpretations of this medium which demonstrate innovation and creativity. Designers such as Westwood, Marc Jacobs and the newly established Victoria Beckham show a flair and elegance which, in my opinion, singles them out. I am also fascinated by the strategies developed in order to create interest, promote and in turn sell these products. From shop floor visual merchandising to seasonal buying decisions I understand that every aspect of this business works in tandem in order to create a successful brand which values and engages with its consumers.

My main ambition is to become a serious fashion stylist. At first I would like to work as an editorial stylist but I do in my spare time work on my own freelance pieces. Styling is my life and thats it it ever will be!!
Fashion Industry Experience
I mainly just do freelance styling at the moment but experience I have had within the fashion industry is that I was asked by an owner of a boutique shop to help select the Christmas clothing range and help with the visual merchandising by styling the mannequins, in order to attract people. In turn this enabled her sales to increase and the business to flourish. This taught me the importance of research and how creative yet consumer aware ideas would attract potential customers.

What is hot in fashion this year?
The hottest thing in fashion at the moment is the forthcoming trend in A/W2011'12 Womens and menswear collection. The trend is called innovate, and this is completely different to what we have seen previous in fall collections. This futurist approach will see designers taking on a challenge to inspire the world of peace and salutation rather than death and economic crisis.

Alexander McQueen is the only designer I have ever seen using futuristic approaches in his work so it will be a good tribute to see what some designers can come up with this year.

Strong uses of prints and graphics with unusual shapes and silhouettes are used but controlled fluidity is used throughout.
