- About Me ...
- My name is Lauren Panken. I am 21 years old and live in New York City. New York City to me has always been about opportunities. Living here for the past few months and taught me so much, especially how to follow my dreams. New York is full of inspirational and successful people. Successful to me means people who are fulfilling their dreams, not some one who looks at a huge paycheck, while still feeling empty inside. In order for me to feel like I am a successful person, based on my definition of "successful", I constantly channel my creative nature. I have been an aspiring wardrobe stylist for years. The freedom of non verbal expression that the fashion world brings to daily life, is something I find is priceless. I am constantly styling to allow people to express who they are, without being verbal. "Judgement" serves no purpose in my life, and with my work, I want this aesthetic to be contagious.
Fashion styling means so much to me, basically because I want people to look and feel beautiful, and I want to help them. My creative nature has taught me so much about being intuitive to others feelings which they may not be expressing verbally, and how the use of fashion furthers this aspect. The way I use fashion in my life, is something that can translate into something that people in other situations, can use to make themselves "successful", as well. My goal is just to make people feel comfortable, and to embrace who they are confidently, while feeling supported by the energy of those around them.
- Fashion Industry Experience
- My first position in the fashion industry allowed to be the assistant to fashion designer and stylist, Liz McClean. Liz McClean is the type of person who I aspire to be. While working with her, she also became my mentor. She had so much to offer me, and changed the way I see fashion.
Next, I went on to work for MEMBERS ONLY clothing line. This position allowed me to see the business side of the fashion industry. I was exposed to the production side of a clothing line, as well as learning what it takes to build a successful clothing line, and how to maintain it. I am so greatful to have learned so much from successful people, willing to give me a chance and teach me what it takes.
