- Thanks for friend add. Haute Couture Designers usually have to register in Paris, so generally if you create sigle designs, made to measure, you can refer to yourself as a couture designer. Often times we are Couture designers when we can't manufacture on a large scale or are limited in manufacturing resources. Sometimes licensing a portion of your collection to a big box brand can get your brand out there faster and move units. Then you can spend your time on your creativity and ideas.
