- I'm from Florida, finishing my up degree in Finance, and just accepted a job at an investment bank in New York that will hopefully pay the bills. Having said that, what I really want to do is get into the fashion industry, more specifically the PR side. I realized financial modeling and Bloomberg aren't really what its going to make me happy in the long run. I hope to use New York as an avenue for networking and connections in an inspirational industry I know very little about. I am a very hard worker, motivated, determined...traveled the world, getting a masters in 4 years, I managed to find a job on wallstreet in this year...
Any advice would be greatly appreciated of how to break in giving my background. Big magazines, Big labels, I still want to keep the glamourous lifestyle but I basically am willing to do anything

Under normal circumstances, I would suggest that you stay with investment banking. Certainly 2008 has been a bumpy ride for that industry. However, "all" industries are taking a hit on the chin...
When you have a moment, please add an image to your profile. It does not have to be an image of you but should be something relevant to fashion.
If you visit the Groups section (you can find link at the top of this page), you may find some groups of interest to you. We have a Fashion PR group and also a Fashion Marketing Group that you may wish to join.
If you enjoy writing about fashion, you are welcome to try the blog feature in your profile area. If you post a blog message it will appear in your profile area and for a short time on the main page of this site. That is a good way to allow other members to view your thoughts on fashion trends, style, etc.
