About Me ...
I was born at home in Columbia, Maryland to a firefighter/medic father and novelist editor mother. Both of my parents were on the go and I spent a large part of my childhood on my grandparent’s farm. Growing up my grandmother had me doing all kinds of projects with her. This is where I had my first sewing experience in making clothes. I hand sewed little capes and jumpsuits for my GI Joe’s. Throughout my school years I had an interest in Arts and Science. I went to college at TU, majoring in Theatre Production and Design. The events of September 11th changed the world and my life as well. I shifted gears and wanted to help people in need. I became an EMT and later completed the paramedic programs. I continued to work in Emergency Health Care for the next 7 years, doing pediatric and adult emergency. I am also continuing my education to become an RN. Over the years, fashion has still been my hobby, an escape from the crazy events and experiences with people in the ER. I made a few outfits for the Visionary Arts Museum benefits. One dress was constructed entirely of paper and paper clips. Another was a ball gown made from wire hangers and plastic wrap. For different events I have made costumes for friends for Halloween and theme parties. Numerous times I have been asked if I did this professionally, but I always declined and left it just as a fun hobby. I have always wanted to participate in a fashion show and put my creative work out there. When I heard of Baltimore’s Fashion Week from a friend, I jumped at the opportunity. Having never made more than a few outfits at a time, this has been a challenge. Going along with the fashion week’s theme, “Once Upon a Fashionable Dream”, I chose to title my collection, “Nightmares and Daydreams”, keeping it real with the City. I know I was not born in the city, but I have spent the last 10 years here. I have been greatly and deeply inspired by the art of the city as well as the brutality and personal struggles that people go through. Every piece in my collection shows a nightmare or daydream and sometimes both. I feel that art should be something people take part in and not just observe. Fashion is the ultimate venue. Wear and express an artistic creation that has something to say to the on-looker. I have just finished up my second show, this time for KIS Agency, "Kiss the Runway". I theme this show with a Rock Star edge, and kept the feel of the city it. Fences were present in alot of my looks, and the use of futuristic and rigid materials. Keep an eye on my I seem to be on a roll. Trying to build up business in the coming year. Always looking for help and comments, new connections, hot models and cool photographers.
