About Me ...: I am a beader and jewelry designer. I collect beads-old ones from Afghanistan or Nepal, Middle East, Egypt. Those are the areas that give me the most inspiration in my jewelry . I could spend days looking at beads and do spend a lot of time on line finding new sources both wholesale and retail.

I learned to bead first from an elderly woman in a village I was living in when I first moved to Alaska. She taught me her style of floral bead embroidery, how to sew winter boots, beaded slippers, how to tan small furs easily, how to sew hats, ruffs, trim etc with fur. It was a wonderful years I was able to spend time with her.

I have since expanded into jewelry-necklaces, bracelets I love stretchy bracelets and have come up s\with some cool designs using teardrop stone shapes and chinese lampworked beads in between the clusters of teardrops. Has a bit of a spiky look but is still very comfortable to wear.

What is hot in fashion this year?: chains, big links mixed with smaller ones, drops of beads on eye or headpins form the chains-either fillinf it in for sort of a woolybear look or just a few to let the chains be central to design. Strands of pearls or gemstones woven in to the chains or "braided" with them for a fuller look. I'm still practicing with chains and drops-new design element for me. Fun one to work with/
