About Me ...

Dawn Rhodes, founder of SHADES Jewelry, is a semi-self-taught jewelry designer who has been creating beaded
jewelry for over 5 years.

To be more precise, my interest in beads and jewelry designing began one summer with some friends and family and creating seed bead bracelets. That same year I created cross necklaces out of beads and charms for her family for Christmas. When people started asking where they could purchase or see more of the jewelry, I decided it was time to create the business and pursue jewelry making more.

All the jewelry is handmade by me. I am constantly attracted to the infinite combinations that are possible with
different shapes, colors, textures & sizes of beads and other semi-precious and precious materials used to create jewelry with. My favorite designs are those that are unique and personalized. I continually refines her techniques and has developed the kind of knowledge, skill,
and quality of workmanship that comes
only from years of experience.

I am a jewelry and a graduate of Ashworth University in Norcross, GA and their School of Jewelry Design and
Repair. She is also an active member of Ohio Jewelry and Metal Arts Guild, Ohio Beaders, and various other on-line groups and forums. I also teach basic jewelry making classes and also teach small business marketing and advertising classes. I write a small business blog as well.

Fashion Industry Experience

I am just branching out with my jewelry after several being in touch with some fashion stylists who have suggested I network more with the fashion industry to get my one of a kind jewelry designs out there.
