- As Senior Designer I managed a Design Team along with the design responsibilities, presentation and product growth of five departments, which generated approximately $160 million in annual volume in 2009. A large part of my job responsibility was to design a large product range with in merchant guide lines each season to create fashionable, innovative and client-right apparel from concept to completion.
In addition to my nine years of design experience, I have a Bachelors Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison along with an Associate Degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology. I have traveled to Hong Kong, Korea and Los Angeles to collaborate with overseas teams and outside vendors to source fabrics and trims in addition to shopping inspirational and competitive markets for current and emerging trends. Throughout my career, I partnered closely with Merchants, Technical Teams, Production Teams, Marketing and Sourcing Teams to build line plans based on past and current sales reports, develop merchandise each season, expand our product line and categories, to identify problems and develop solutions.
I am highly skilled in creating concepts, apparel design development, garment construction, fabric manipulation, creating specification packages, sketching and illustration, in addition to having a great eye for current trends, creating displays, fabrics, color, proportion and accessorizing. I have a wide range of technical skills which include garment construction techniques, an understanding of measurements and proportion, fittings, fabric performance, flat sketching by hand or computer, technical drawings and detailed specification packages. My computer skills include Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Illustrator, WebPDM, Karat, Excel and Microsoft Office. I am also a skilled manager having overseen and mentored associates, assistants and interns throughout my career.
