About Me ...
Well, I develop fashion industry websites. Therefore, I guess you can say that I enjoy the fashion industry. Although the fashion industry is very important to me and takes up much of my time, the most important thing in my life is my family. I live on the East Coast of the United States, but enjoy hearing about fashion from around the globe.

If you have interest, you can follow me on Twitter at www.Twitter.com/Apparel I can not promise that I will say anything interesting, but you are welcome to follow me if you have interest.
Fashion Industry Experience
Currently have approx. 15 years experience in the fashion industry. Time sure does fly...
Favorite Fashion Designer or Fashion Brand
Don't really have a favorite. But I can tell you my wife, loves the GAP.
What is your favorite fashion website? (list the web address, NOT the fashion sites name. If you only list the name, the link to your favorite fashion site will not work...)

A message from me ...

Hello everyone... I really hope you enjoy the Fashion Industry Network. For years, I have been developing fashion sites and this is my first attempt at creating a method for members of the fashion industry to communicate directly with one another.

The idea of this site is for fashion designers to meet fashion designers, production managers to meet production managers, stylists to meet stylists, pattern makers to meet pattern makers etc.

You are welcome to promote your fashion industry product or service. HOWEVER, please try not to make it sound like a commercial. The goal is to make legit business contacts so that we can keep the world of fashion spinning. Again, you may promote your business as this is actually the purpose of the site. Please do not be too pushy with your attempts to solicite business.

If you see people abusing the site with non relevant information, please let me know and we will try to quickly remove their posts. We truly need your support to help keep this site beneficial for everyone. Please understand that as a user of this site, you are part of the team. Lets all work together to keep the site working as originally intended.

You can view my main fashion industry website at Apparel Search.

Accessories For Function or For Flash

When fashion designers create accessories, do they design them for a particular function or do they create them to be flashy (eye catching)? Or possibly, do they design for both. For example, a hat with a face covering can be a very functional item if you are for example skiing. However, a hat… Continue

How Many Fashion Industry Network Members is Too Many

When I started the Fashion Industry Network one of my primary concerns was the size of the site. No, I was not concerned that the site had only a few members. Actually, my concern was the contrary. I was worried about what would happen in the future if the site had "too many" members.

My theory was always that the network is only as good as the members that utilize the site. The thought process was that if we have a good group of people, the fashion industry network would be a beneficial… Continue

I will honor your request. I have been a member almost since the very beginning...I have watched this industry change oh so much in the last year and not for the better. Fashion, if you research the web has really yet to catch up to the internet. All designers, patternmakers, freelancers, anyone entering any business really should have an internet presence for if nothing else they can be found... but most of all, in today's society it actually legitimatizes you "whats your web address" is what anyone looking to do business will ask you....Hosting services are starting to become specialized with products such as SaaS targeting specific industries and that is what we are trying to accomplish with fashion....soon every one that signs up for our service will get a free fashion catalog, fashionPDM, and a fashion resource guide that we are building all in one all part of the service.

It seems as though the users get to use this forum more as a venue to "smile at one another" and make friends than as a forum to really promote our businesses ...to symbiotically use one another to make money.

As you can see from my resume I have been in the fashion business for quite some time now and if we all don't change the way we think, the way we try to promote ourselves and our businesses then this forum will be just another place "to smile at one another".

Out of respect for the forum I had been sending comments one at a time... over 1000 in all....You would be surprised at how much I have found out about the REAL contacts here, how many don't have any kind of internet presence whatsoever, and the emails about how great it is to find a service that specializes in fashion related web sites

Anyway thank you for this forum, and there will be no more postings about the service.

Hi Apparel 1,

How do I post a job interest? I'm looking for someone mature and quality who is interested in building a biz with a new men's clothing line launched in Dallas. We're going on our 3rd year and in 63 cities all over the US so far. 15-20 hours a week or full time if they choose. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks, Kim

Hi Apparel - I really appreciate the article. I do need to change one thing in the title - we want to change the word "legless" to Amputees. If this is something you can change, that would be great. So it should read, "Dressing the Legs for Amputees". Thanks!
