FOR WHOM IT STANDS EXHIBIT Sheila Pree Bright

During my artist-in-residency at the Reginald F. Lewis museum, I photographed models from the "Versailles 73: American Runway Revolution". In 1973, this fashion show competition between French and American designers made a statement declaring history. When a number of African-American models took the runway, they had no idea their cat walk would create a change in the fashion industry, commerce, and publishing-- breaking color barriers for black models. Pictured in this image are models, Alva Chinn and Pat Cleveland, Charlene Dash along with fashion designer Carlous Palmer. #beafaceforgrace
