Sourcing New Fabrics

I am often asked by new designers about the best way to find what they are looking for in terms of fabrics. I can’t help but think that one of the biggest challenges in the Apparel Industry today is finding new resources and suppliers that meet the needs of the smaller to mid-size companies, don’t you agree? What works best for you? Tradeshows, online outlets, directories?… I look forward to your answers and continuing the conversation.

Hi,

Usually vendors that sell at trade shows have a small business division that services small to mid-size companies. The fabric choices are the same but the cost is going to be higher.

I do fabric sales and resourcing in Los Angeles, CA. I ahve more than 20 yrs experience. I represent some of the LARGEST textil importers and converters in the US. We ship sample and prod. yardage across the US and internationally. I have comtacts and resources in New York as well.
