I have had a perspective client ask if I would do commission for product placement...not sure how this would work since product placement takes time, today and often you don't see the results for 3-4 months when mags are printed. And we may have to hit 10 editors to get 1 placement...
Is anyone else doing this? If so, how are you handling it?
Hi Robyn. Yes, I am. And I'm doing it on a per contact basis and per release or phone call basis. So I give my client a flat fee for the month of what all that is gong to cost. ranges from $300 to 450
I see you're in Miami ~ awesome! I also run an industry networking organization if you ever have need of stylists, photogs, mua, etc. The website is www.Fashion-Insiders.com, members are between Palm Beach to Miami.

I haven't been to one of theirs yet, is it kinda like Thread or Shop Miami? I have a huge event on the 2nd, so it's going to depend on how complete everything is for the night of the event. Definitely looks interesting, I'm going to try!
I'm a publicist in NY, and I was asked if I would work on a project and take a percentage. I advised that's not how a Publicist gets paid. I would suggest to get paid up front, because you may never see your monies for your hard work.

Oh, great issue - thanks for raising it. I haven't encountered such requests, although there is certainly a heap of haggling over retainers. Icy, how did you work out how to price each element and structure this? I am guessing you have a raft of clients on regular arrangements, as for some smaller businesses, this could really mess with cash flow. x
