hello fashion designer, I would suggest developing patterns for garments you've designed than branching out to develop patterns for other people's designs. Also do a variety of garments, say princess style dresses, suits, tailored shirts, bias cut skirts, tailored pants. You want to try simpler designs first and work into more intermediate (bit more complex cut wise) and then work up to more adventurous, artistic fashions that would require 'new' pattern shapes. Good Luck

Yes it is true, at least here in Los Angeles.About $40~$65 per hour. but based on your experience and what you are doing ( 1st and or production very difficult dresses) price's will vary.i say any where from $1000 the absolute lowest~$2000 the high.1400~1600 is average for an experienced pattern maker. in NYCim sure its higher. hope this helps

Hi there, I'm seriously wondering about something and would appreciate if someone could give me the answer to these questions. I heard that there is a big demand for patternmakers, is this true? And, how much does a patternmaker earn if they're just starting out as a company employee and a freelance service provider?

Thanks so much in advance to anyone who will answer these question. Have a wonderful day,

Ayisha
