Hey,
Ok, here we are in an industry with no regulations, No real standards of what the rules of engagement are, nor are there any real pricing standards or schedules available , that I know of that is.
So I ask you. Fellow Pattern and Sample makers..... How much is it to make a pattern and a sample for say a man's dress shirt, or just a shirt?
A womans dress? What kind of dress?
and then there is the block... the slopper, the master basic, arant they all one in the same?
Can someone please help me understand what I'm surposed to say to a fashion designer that calls me out of the blue or from my web site, and askes me over the phone to give them a quote for this or that?
Today it is a men's shirt, for a collection that this guy is pre promoting, and he doesn't ever have the collection out, yet he is sending out all these emails about how he's putting on a show to show off this collection he want's me to make for him... But what am I supposed to do?
Is $195 for 11 pieces of a detailed mans shirt too much for a pattern? and $125 enough to sew it up to perfection and have it rack ready with no labels. And then repeat that 9 or 12 more times, in the next 3 weeks?
Hello...... or should I be just happy that this guy want's me to do it for 50 bucks a shirt?
Please help me figure this out. Against my better judgment I'm enclosing my price sheet that I've been looking to change, to accommodate the new economy, cause everyone is screaming poverty. Well guess what? I'm screaming poverty too. and I'm not excited to make some one else rich, and famous from my work....
what would you do?
