In this discussion section, lets discuss companies that are actually doing something to help make a difference (in regard to the environment).
If you read something or know something about a fashion company that you think is of interest, please share your thoughts with us. Also, if you have "suggestions" of what clothing and footwear companies can do to help improve the environment, you are welcome to share those thoughts in this section as well.
In a conscious effort to reduce both material use and waste, The Timberland Company unveiled today its Earthkeepers 2.0 boot – the first footwear the company has designed to be disassembled and recycled, rather than discarded, at the end of its product life. Levi's Care Tags Promote Donating to Goodwill : A Care Tag for Our Planet
Goodwill and Levi's ® are launching a new initiative this month, "Care Tag for Our Planet," designed at diverting billions of pounds of unwanted clothing from landfills. Levi's® jeans now feature a care tag that encourages owners to donate to Goodwill when no longer needed. The tags are a unique vehicle for educating consumers about how to care for their clothes responsibly.
"The simple act of donating your used Levi's® jeans to Goodwill helps to reduce the approximately 23.8 billion pounds of clothing and textiles
that go into U.S. landfills each year," said Jim Gibbons, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries International. "The 166 local, independent Goodwill agencies in the United States and Canada use those donations to create job training services that help more than 1.5 million people."
