Does anyone know an average fee for a freelance writer? Do they charge per article? I image that writting a full article would cost more then a blog post. Anyone know what authors charge per blog post or per article..

Very sorry for my delayed response to your e-mail. I some how missed your reply until now. Thank you for this great information.

Regarding posting articles for free on ezine articles, if anyone is interested, you can post articles at my Fashion Newspaper site. If you use that site to post articles, you can add your google adsense information and possibly earn revenue. However, in all honesty at this time that site has been a bit slow. But if you are interested you can certainly give it a try.

Regarding rates, do you currently do assignments based on a specific topic. For example, I want to hire someone to write an artice explaining the term "Fashion Design". Basically a description of fashion design, as well as what it takes to deal in fashion design as a profession. Maybe info on fashion design schools etc. I want a rather well rounded description of what "fashion design" means...

I can pay $50. for a well written article. I do not have an exact word count, but I am looking for an informative article. Therefore, I do not think that it can be a very short article.

If anyone is interested, let me know so we can discuss.
I would be keen to write something for you re: Fashion Design. Let me know if you would like me to submit something to you or we can have an e-mail chat to discuss style, rate, word count etc?
:-)
You can send me your rates privately. I will send you an e-mail in a minute from the e-mail system and you can respond t that message.
Please let me know how much you would charge for an article about "Fashion Design". You can e-mail it to me privately.

I don't know about blogging, though I can tell you about hardcopy rates, though I suppose it also depends on what part of the world you are working in.

If you consider freelance writing for websites (not columns or blogs but actually being hired to write a company or business' s website which is how I have been making a living lately) I know here in Tel Aviv the going rate is anywhere from $40 to $80/hour of work.

If you freelance for a hardcopy cultural magazine (like Timeout for example) , it depends on the story with them usually closing the sum beforehand. Generally it can be anywhere from $25 for apx 300 words, to $250 for around 1000 words.
thank you for your reply. This is very good information (sorry I am very late responding to your message). I some how missed this page for a while...
if anyone is looking to have thier fashion articles published, I would be interested in featuring them in my newsmagazine. There would be no pay but the exposure would be great. If interested you can view our publication at: www.salonnewsusa.com
hi send me some of your sample artciles on fashion and beauty, e publish an indian lifestyle magazine
I am so glad this topic is here because I just started writing seriously for free to get some experience and build a portfolio and well...once that is done I do want to start charging for my services. (btw I write for Style-ology Magazine) These rates give me idea because before all I had to go on was Carrie's (SATC) $2 a word at Vouge episode.
There's not really an average fee, I usually try to fit my rates into the budget of the client. For an article of approx. 1250 words, printed media, I would charge something between $250 and $350.
Thank you for your comments. I actually recently purchased a few articles. And the authors follow your policy and did do their best to work within my budget. That is definately a good way to go. I was not able to pay what they normally would charge, but they helped me out so it was mutually beneficial. Anyway, I currently have two member of this network working on articles for me. I am happy with what they have done and will continue with them until I can afford to hire additional journalists.
