QUESTION BRIDGETTE WHAT IS THE BEST SEWING MACHINE I CAN USE TO DESIGN MY CLOTHING SKIRT,BLOUSES .
Janet Carlson Comment by Janet Carlson on November 19, 2009 at 11:39am
Hi Brigitte: When you draft the pattern, the ruffles are simply straight pieces cut across the goods. Depending on the weight of the fabric, they can be 2x to 3x in the width of the skirt pattern. Fold the patterns in half to notch so you can pin it to the skirt at CF & CB. I run two baste stitches to gather it up. The stitch length is very long and you loosen the top tension so you can pull the bottom 2 threads to gather it up. I like to wind the thread figure 8 around the end pins. After you sew the ruffles to the skirt, lining up your notches, you remove the baste stitching. I like to use my seam ripper to work the ruffles in nice and even.
