Local fashion shows, on a large scale.Starting a fashion month every year, once a year.

I am April-Jean, of Chateau De Curb Gear & Curb Gear Designs.I am a local designer and I do my work from home .I am a student of fashion design but have been doing this for some time now.I would like to hear from other designers here if you would like to see our area spark the trend here in large scale fashion shows to help the little people get discovered, and help pull some money back into Floridas economy. After all we do have celebrities in our area all the time.So I think one month out of each year we could have a real fashion show; especially for the little designers, but the big labels are to participate also.

I think this is a wonderful idea...especially with myself being a plus size model it is very difficult to find plus size designers which therefore makes it even more difficult to participate in fashion shows that have a plus size line, don't get me wrong they do exist but there just isn't that many.
that would be nice but where? most events like this are in big cities like Jacksonville and Orlando i feel that since you want to do for the "little people" keep in close distance to them. most fashion shows play host to the big labels and keep to far away for the other smaller labels to access them so if you are willing to do it in a smaller city like Opa Locka, Starke, Newberry i know you can find a lot of support and little to no competition.
i love this idea i just found this post... please add me to ur email list and keep me posted. i recently joined a clothing line with some friends of mine i went to school with. we are a small upcoming group of designers and we are located in tampa. we have done some fashion shows out here on the local scene but we have come to find out that other designers that were in the shows don't understand the real work behind fashion design, they were more into grafic tees and there were retail store owners nothing original, and it was diappointing for us. we are always talking about a real fashion show with real designers who are serious and have the same passion.

my email address is: bmclaughlin.dt@gmail.com. please keep me posted and informed on this fashion show you would like to have.
Hello my name is Che Mack, I am freelance Fashion Stylist. I just relocated from Atlanta to the Tampa area. I am looking into putting together a Fashion show either in the Tampa area, or South Florida. If anyone is interested please let me know, so that we can put our heads together. I am really looking forward to seeing what the Florida market has to offer.

As of now i am trying to put together a Spring- Summer line so hit me back if you are still interested. Shortly after i am thinking about summer swim wear then a fall line. I also have experience as a designer (sample maker)/ Hair Stylist which I am going back to school for.
Hello, my name is Sharon and I just recently joined fashion network. I read the discussion and would like to chat with you more. I am also a young designer in Orlando and see that there is a lack for fashion, I would love to team up with you to do some shows as you said- add me as a friend so we could talk more.
Hi April, where in Florida are you. I am definitely interested and I'm here in Ft. Lauderdale and my specialty is making Plus size. My website is www.cgscouture.com
Hello my dear and talented friends.I have been away in Atlanta for the summer and am now back in FLA.
So many of us are still interested in a show for the little people, the real designers who need some exsposure or a good chance.Well I am still looking to get that going and am still looking for interested designers to voice their interest. Meaning you as a designer would need to have sketched your designs and have constructed them. You can be a fashion design graduate or student or designer without a degree. But you must have the ability to understand or create a pattern,do some draping and some altering of basic patterns to create your own design.
I'm thinking of a couple of areas such as Jacksonville,Tampa,Orlando,West Palm Bch,Daytona Bch,CoCoa Bch,and Miami to host the show. Before the show, some introductory shows would be great throughout Fla. to get designers names out so that people are familiar with the name, therefore developing exsposure. And by the time the big show comes along we can count on a full house and some celebrities at some point.
this sounds like an awesome Idea............but it was over a year ago..did u start this?
Yes, but it is a big idea to pull off and get people to commit to.I am still working on this, if you are interested in bringing this to birth let me know, and let me know of your area of experience in putting together shows.
This sounds great.I am interested in participating. My area of of experience is Makeup
