Do any of you work with photography agents and if so how has it been a benefit or not? I am trying to get more fashion work and just do not know how; I should go about it.
I am not the best to give advise on this because I am not a professional photographer, but I do have a suggestion. In my opinion, you should contact agencies and ask about the "fees". If they can guarantee you additional work, it may be worth the fee. In my opinion, it is better to pay a fee to obtain work then to have no work...
In addition to photography agencies, you may want to contact modeling agencies, and stylist agencies. Anyone with a connection, could possibly help. For example, a company like http://www.crystalagency.com/ provides services with hair and makeup artists. Most likely the hair and makeup artists are off to a photo shoot.. Maybe that type of connection could help. Anyway, just a thought. By the way, I have never worked with the crystal agency. I only list them because I have them in my directory.
Good luck.. Hopefully some photographers will respond to answer your question.
It is very hard to get an agent. i have only called a couple of agencies in ny, and they are not adding anyone for right now b/c there isn't enough work. Most agencies want you to already have work. Some photographers i know that have one still say they (photographer) are still mainly responsible for getting their own work. I'd still like to have one though. You def. have to actively pursue it, and make sure you get a good one! good luck!
I am currently asking the same question. I would say that unless you are known, it's better to work with photography agents. The benefit should be a larger network and bigger budget.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR ADVICE, EVELINA LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF MY WORK AND WHERE I NEED TO START. IU AM NOT ESTABLISHED IN FASHION BUT WOULD LOVE TO START.
