Fashionista Fashion Week

Information

Fashionista Fashion Week

In the Fashionista Fashion Week Group, we will brainstorm the creation of a world class fashion event organized by Fashionistas and for Fashionistas. This utopian like fashion event may never take place, but we can discuss the possibilities...

Is this fashion week only a dream?

The Dream : Create a fashion week that is NOT about sponsors, not about a particular city, and not about corporate egos... The idea is to create an event that brings the fashion world back to basics. A method for "DESIGNERS" to shine. I am not talking about designers that already have reached fame and fortune. The Fashionista Fashion Week would be for the designers that are yet to be discovered. The goal is to offer entrepreneurial fashion designers a stage so that they can strut their stuff... In theory, members of the Fashion Industry Network can work together to organize a fashion week. The fashion event would not only be for the members, but it would be organized by the members. The concept would be for us all to donate our resources (mostly time and energy), to put on a mutually beneficial event. The Fashion Industry Network, has event organizers, designers, stylists, models photographers, etc.

The Challenge : To provide a free or nearly free method for designers to attend a fashion week. Yes, this is very much a challenge..

Note: Although I have created the concept of the Fashionista Fashion Week (and have copyright to the name), I currently have no way of pulling off such an amazing event on my own. My hopes are that we can brainstorm ideas, and possibly some day the Fashion Industry Network can launch this event as a way to help members of this network.

Why can't we each contribute to a common cause and put on a show that we can call our own? Why can't fashionistas have a Fashioninsta Fashion Week?

I think this is an awesome idea!! I would love to be involved with this project. I'm an Event Management major trying to break into the Fashion Events Industry, and I'm sure there are others trying to do the same!! This would not only be a great event for up and coming designers but also up and coming fashion event planners!!! I'm sure we can pull this off. We just have to use our resource and commit our time and energy!!! Please let me know when things will get started!!!

this is a very exciting idea. after working with so many small--but still incredibly talented--designers, i have learned just how difficult it is to get you name and brand out to the public. the small shows just don't cut it unless you are able to bring in some really big name buyers or marketers...yeah, right. and then talk about getting into the atlanta fashion week show is just ridiculous for an up and comer. the fees, the standards...you have to already be established with a particular yearly profit margin...what the heck. this would be a wonderful way for new designers to understand the real pressure of pushing out their ideas, the last minute details not to mention the (hopefully) exposure they would otherwise never get. i do believe though some type of standard should be set to that not everyone that can thread a needle is put on stage....you'd need a fashion year for that, not to mention with that much creativily, the circus would probably be somewhere on stage too...

just my 2 cents...: )

MUAH! have a wonderful weekend everyone!
