I just joined the website and I'm trying to get some insight on how to start my clothing line. I currently own a boutique but I want to advance more in the fashion industry and start making my own clothes. Can you give me a few pointers as I am new to this.

Hello Alfredo, just joined the group and i'm current trying to get into the fashion industry. I resntly startred putting down the ideas i have into sketches. I'm currently learning dressmaking, beadmaking and bag making as well. i really need some guide on how to go about my dreams please.

G,ad to hear tht you are interested in helping other designers fulfill their dreams.I have produce a line of Women's Sportwear in the past however in both cases the Manufacturing aspect of the production process proved to be my downfall.So I am ready to try again but looking for advice on how to make the third time the "charm".

Hi Alfredo.

I am a designer. I usually work with private clients, doing bridal, evening, or couture costume design. I am an illustrator as well. With this economy a lot of my business fell off. I had to drop my website. I stopped advertising in the Yellow Pages. (I wish I had not.)

I am trying to redirect my business and relaunch it. I still want to design bridal and evening wear, but I would like to sell them to shops or sell designs freelance...a mini Vera Wang so to speak. I really want my own store/house one day.

I am educated in the field. I worked for Vera Wang. I have been a technical designer. I am a strong illustrator. I am also a member of this community. (I need to figure out how to use this better and not feel so all alone in this business, here I have collegues!)

What can I do to get started? I am ready to pound pavement, which pavement, which direction?
