To pre-phase: I'm a professional software developer with a master's in computer science.
I've been reading Royal Road for quite a while now and I always angled towards books that are Dungeon Core oriented. Both, either technological or magical in nature. I believe, if built correctly, a true blue Dungeon Core themed video game would be successful.
(My favorite are nanite themed with many hints of Sci-Fi and world building elements.)
I've explored steam and other DRM platforms extensively. I haven't quite found the perfect true Dungeon Core video game. Some games touch on the topic to a degree but nothing quite substantial.
What are your thoughts on this topic?
don't really think these kind of games are that popular nowadays
Well, I can tell you that making a video game is a great idea, however it is not easy at all. You cannot do it on your own, that is for sure. I also have a degree in software development, however when I actually decided to start working on a game, I understood, that I actually need a really big team to make it great. There are a hell a lot of other small details which are like some pain in the arse. I quit that project, decided that it is better to just buy the keys for already great games on https://www.cdkeysforgames.com/games/uplay-games/far-cry-6/. It is a great thing to do your own game, however you must dedicate your whole time to it, in case you really want to make it great and successful.
I guess you are right actually
