The Fashion Industries Favorite Business Network ...

Im hoping to have the discussion about how a designer gets to see the buyers for JC Penney, Macy's and other department stores . It has been a goal of mine to sell a product to all of the above or one. Im not sure how to get to the right person to make the dream a reality. If that is a goal of yours or you have achieved that goal...please lets have the discussion. I believe there are alot of designers very interested in this subject. Thank You...

with the companies that I have worked for, we either had a rep that showed the line to major department stores or there was a personal connection between the owner and the buyers. If you don't mind paying the rep fee, then I would say that is the easiest way to get your line introduced to the major retailers.

:)
Hie, Hope i find you well, i am interested as well, approximatly how much would this rep fee be? and how long is the process?
Hi guys,

the rep fees vary depending on the person and the specifics of your line. I have seen anywhere from 6-15 percent. and the time it takes also depends on whether or not you get lucky with a good rep AND if the contacts they have will love your line and decide to buy.

Best of Luck,
Interesting. We are conducting the 2010 Photo Model of the Year (Contest) in Ohio, USA this year and I would be interested in connecting with you pertaining to the having of someone from your company come a help with the Judging this November and also helping us find good buyer connections so as to help our girls find work in the Print/Photo Model industry by possibly representing your clothing as well. Hi,

My business partner Jane Hamill in Indie Design Association runs a bootcamp on how to sell your line and how to get to buyers and so on. Check her out.

As far as sales rep, they can help but its not a sure thing, as Xe said it really depends on few things, your product, story, price point and the right sales rep with the right connection who believes in your line. how long you have been in business? btw these big department stores are not necessarily the right solution for your line, if you are not ready either financially or from a business and production structure point than it could be deadly, so you want to make sure you can handle that.

  Good luck
