Selling shoe designs to get financing to start my own business

Most of the articles I've read on How to start your own clothing line or How to start your own Design Business seldom tell you how to get financing for your business. I have no money to start out. Taking out loans is not an option for me. I want to know if I could sell some of designs to get money to finance my business. My shoe designs are edgy and unique. I know I could make money off of them but I've really never heard of designs being sold for that purpose. If anyone has an experience in this or can contribute to this discussion, feel free. Thank you.

be very cautious when showing your designs.
sadly, many ideas are 'borrowed' literally ,it happens everyday in most creative fields.
do you have any friends/relatives who would be willing to have a meeting with you & contribute to your start up company.
once you have established yourself, they are then paid back their original loans + interest.
