I'd like to start by introducing myself - my name is Bela Shehu and I am the creative director of SHEHU, a design and development company for start up brands.
When I started my first label in 2002 I quickly realized how limited my options were when it came to working with sample and production houses as well as branding firms - nobody wants to work with a start up unless the budget is super high. But lets face it, most of young designers don't have access to such budgets. After hitting the pavement for a few weeks, I realized that the only option I was left with was to build my own development studio with the right pattern makers, sample makers and machines. Since then, other than developing and producing for my own ventures, I have been offering my services to many start up brands, some of them very successful now (Commonwealth Proper, Zahra Saeed, Lithe Wear, NINO Brand, etc).
