The Fashion Industries Favorite Business Network ...

Hi All,

I am working on my project of kidswear label, but would like some opinion from experienced people as to how many item should be included in my 1st collection.

So far my thoughts were :

- 1 jacket
- 1 pair of trousers
- 2 dresses
- 1 skirt
- 1 top (but reading on the forum, it says that for every bottom bought, there are 2.5 tops bought)

Fabric : Was thinking of 2 plain + 1 print.

Also, looking at the "ethical" side, I am aiming for ORGANIC + FAIRTRADE fabric.

Would this be enough for the UK market ?

What other accreditations should I be looking for ?

Any suggestions ? Thank you !!

Well, I'm not so experienced but I would say it depends on your distributing channel. If you were to say distribute it by opening up your own boutique or e-commerce store, I'd say that's not enough. When in doubt, put yourself in a customer's view and see as a customer, how much item are they expect to see?!

Personally I feel that it takes at least 10 items to get that "line concept." But it's entirely up to you and your financial status.
You are definitely on the right track thinking you might need more tops.  I would even say do 3-to-1 tops to bottoms. And be sure you offer one great thing about your line.  Why would someone pick yours over a competitor? What makes your truly special in the market?

If you haven't try The Ethical  Fashion Forum to find current information about the state of the ethical clothing industry in the UK :)

I think you need more product ... at-least 3 products per type...

keep much variety in product that would help you to shoe your creativity all the way.
