Knit production in LA

I am a designer but I am not of the garment industry so please excuse my "green-ness." I am looking for a lead to a knit manufacturer that can produce a sample and do small quantity production in Los Angeles. In addition, I am trying to develop a product that is as green as possible and am not sure what I need to create organic knit goods. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Cheers!
