what you are going to do is take photographs of outfits which you've put together.
this will be the starting point of your beginning portfolio.
you will knock on every door of the stores you wish to work with.
call them first, ask to speak with the owner/director.
explain that you wish to intern as a stylist, have a beginning portfolio and only want 5 minutes of their time for an interview.
you will be surprised at how many will say yes.
best of luck.
or you could place a free advert on craigslist as a stylist willing to intern.
Hi Chavelle my name is Theo and I'm responding to your request for help and mentorship!..!st following what Maryanne had to say about the store followings, Yet you must 1st start to build a direction and in order to do that you must begin to understand what Stylist, Wardrobe, and Consultants do in this industry called fashion. Develop and an eye for style yes but beyond that understand how thats going to look on your client is going to take time and many mishaps no thats my story!... Anyway its all part of the learning curve if you need to talk please feel free to reach out for whatever you may have questions about because the more informed you are the better you can represent!...

Thanks Mr. Hackney I appreciate you responding to my question. I will surely be in contact with you for any other questions I may have. I have been reading alot of books, magazines, and research on the internet educating myself with the latest fashion. I also attend college here in NC getting a degree in Fashion Merchandising. Your info helps alot thanks!
Thanks so much MaryAnn. I really appreciate you responding to my question. This really helps alot! Thanks
Since you're new to this, I would begin by creating short-term goals. Dress to match the appropriateness of the occasion. If you're going to visit a high end boutique dress similar to what the store offers. It does not necessarily have to be the same brand products, but consider what the business owner will think of you. Try and be proactive and tell every fashion store you visit that you're willing to volunteer for experience purposes. Be prepared to answer any questions they might have - especially if they start to ask you why you want to begin your career in the fashion style industry. Just be polite, be enthusiastic, keep an open mind, and visit as many fashion stores possible. I'm sure it shouldn't be difficult to get in the door once you start to put yourself out there. Good luck!
Look through any fashion book today and you will find round-and-round and up-and-down lines in the fashion issue. Here are a few fashion photography tips if you are interested in getting started in the field of fashion photography. First thing you must do is study your subject with any field, you can never learn enough. Read as many fashion magazines you can probably get your hands on. There are lots of fantastic books on the subjects of fashion and model photography available. They can be purchased cheaply online at different sites. You will also need a good camera, a tripod, and a lighting system. One of the more often overlooked fashion photography tips is to make sure that you always reserve enough film and extra batteries available. The most vital fashion photography tips are to focus on having a portfolio. You need to start assembling a portfolio of your work and you need to keep this portfolio handy at all times. You never know when you will have the opportunity to show your work off to someone in the fashion world.
