I've always been interested in what distinguishes one fashion capitols fashion/style from another. If your from one of them what is it you like about your fashion city, who are favourite designers and what is it you think sets your cities fashion apart from others.

I'm a true native New Yorker.
manhattan born & raised.
What I love about my city is that it is a 'world city' so to speak.
( NYC, London, Paris, Milan, Tokyo)
there are mnay factors which distinguish one place from another, namely, weather, life style, the 'pace' of each city. stores, street fashion.
new yorkers prefer up to the minute ( nano second) fashion and anything ahead of trend.
depending upon which part of the city you go to, you will see fashion interpreted differently.
upper east side will have a different feel than downtown.
'good grooming' is a good word for majority of new yorkers, men & women alike. new yorkers look 'polished'.
as for fave designers it depends upon the area of the city as well as the age of who would answer that question.
new york style will always be sleek with a graphic feel.
yes it's true, new yorkers do wear a tremendous ammount of black clothing. maybe once again an influence from the fashion/beauty industries.

London on the other hand allows far more creativity, and is more cutting edge and hipper than nyc.

i see trends as originating in europe first, then bouncing to NYC then to the rest of the world.
