You have raised good questions. Personally, I think that the key to your statement is that it is "kids" fashion. Kids get their clothes very dirty... Personally, I would stay away from clothing that needs to be dry cleaned for kids (other then special occasion clothing). Care symbols are not that simple. However, there are a few sites that explain the meaning. Personally, I like reading the instructions, not just having symbols on the label. This is just "one" persons thoughts... Never really did research on consumer opinion on your questions.

The idea of care label is to warn the user, rather the one who will wash the clothes in how to maintain the product well. Its suppose to be informative so that i will easy to understand, instruction is should be descriptive. Sometimes symbols are not easy to understand, be specific when you use that.
