I am trying to figure out which CAD Pattern program to purchase and why? At the moment I have narrowed it down to Optitex, Lectra and Gerber, which seem like are the most advanced and have the most interesting features, i.e digital model catwalk and draping of the fabrics in 3D.

I have never used a program like this for pattern making, but I would like to embrace the technology and find more efficient methods of pattern cutting compared to traditional manual pattern cutting.

Has anyone used these programs? Which would be the easiest to learn and the most user friendly? What are the downsides of these programs? Do you have to be an excellent pattern cutter to be able to use these programs? Are they mostly designed for big fashion companies or can they also be used by smaller companies?

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
