The Fashion Industries Favorite Business Network ...

Hello everyone

I need some direction/help, I want to start an online clothing store, realizing that there is alot of work ahead of me. Is it smart to build a team that could help with the various parts of building my brand and online store Such as buyer/stylist/etc? and if so how do I go about that? do I find interns being that I can't pay them yet? I am kind of unsure on how to go about this.

Any Ideas?

THANKS A LOT

Hey,

here are the 4 "C" for new start up.

1st 'C" - Create a clear business plan

2nd 'C" - Create your own clothing line / brand.( Look for a design and manufacture company that can produce your line of clothes in small quantities, preferably a one stop shop.)

3rd 'C" - Create a website to promote your clothing line / sell your clothing on-line. (Look for a web design company or web hosting company)

4th "C" - Create traffic into your website. (work with bloggers, join network like Fashion Industry Network, sponsor events, write a press release and many other marketing sources & etc..)

Please email me at mustardseedfashion@yahoo.com for more info on new start up and product services.

Welcome to the exciting fashion industry. All the best!

check this website out, they focus on helping startup, www.fashionmanufacturerfinder.com

I have had some success marketing concepts to the fashion schools and colleges, you could find interns that will work for class credit or a nominal fee.  Hope this helps.

Thank you all that replied it really did help!! Thanks

Have you attend school to learn about retailing?  Have you worked in a boutique or department store previously?  If your answer is no to both, I would strongly suggest doing one of the above.

Selling online is much different then opening a retail location.  Since your plan appears to be to sell online, you may have to be the buyer, stylist, accountant, customer service, and shipping manager all on your own at the beginning.  Sure, you can try to obtain an intern, but what would you be teaching them.  Obtain an intern if you can both benefit...

Good luck with your project.

You are welcome to ask more specific questions.

Hi,

I will be happy to help you with sourcing hats.

Wish you all the success with your business.

I think it wouldn't require you to mass hire people. Since you will be doing it online, you need of course a website which will be done by a web developer... YOu will need an admin though ( you can this too) to update the stocks in your online shop... YOu need a supplier too... and advertiser who will of course introduce and spread your brand to your audience. I hope that helps!

Hello Shi,

Those are all great questions to ask for a start up company.  It's now a year later since you first posted this message, have you launched your oline store?

There is a lot of low-cost/no-cost assistance availabe to asssit you. There is an organization called score.org:   http://www.score.org/business-advice  and Entrepruneur.com:  http://www.entrepreneur.com

These two online organizations should be able to give you some direction to start or sustain your online company.  Best wishes, Michelle
