Here's what we do in the industry to attract sales agents/showrooms.

1. first find condlythe relevant agent/showroom. There are a number of ways of doing this but the easiest is to go online, find like for like brands, goto their contact page and see who represents them. Secondly, exhibit at trade shows where you will have agents/showrooms/distributors approach you if they like your line. Thirdly, but more costly, advertise in trade journals for agents/showrooms. Agents/showrooms are not easy to come by, they have to be very fussy as to who they represent as time/space for them equates to money. If you are a new brand some may represent you but they will beef up the amount in commission they want from you.

2. Once you have a target list of agents/showrooms, email them an agency proposal. This means send them an email outlining who you are, why your great, who you stock if any and your website details. Agents/showrooms will check you out before getting back to you. If you have a lookbook with great imagery/prices send this too along with a press release.

3. Be patient and dont email an agent or showroom during their selling season, i,e now! Most agents/showrooms have no time to answer new brands looking for representation during the actual selling season! We are too busy trying to sell the collections we already represent.
