The Fashion Industries Favorite Business Network ...

Hey guys, my name's Sean and I'm greener than the next guy.

My business partner and I have started an urban fashion label, and we specialize in merchandising for music artists in Australia.

Now we are branching out, and thinking of putting some of our own designs into stores - but how is the question I'd like to ask.

What I would like to know is, is there a formal method of getting your product into a store? Or do you just call them, show them your catalogue and they decide to buy or not?

We are looking to have our shirts at small to medium level stores like independently owned urban outlets and some franchises.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Sean

I'd try looking into trade shows and seeing what your competitors are doing. Then next time maybe you can rent a booth at the next show in your area. Just remember that it takes time for new companies to get your name out there.
Hi - The first step is the target the stores that you think are the best fit for your product in terms of price, customer, quality and then ask a salesperson, or call to find out who the buyer is for the store or the department of the store where you want to sell. Then call the buyer and leave a short message with a one sentence description of your new line and say that you will be sending them a lookbook in the next few days. Then send it! After a few days call and ask if they received it and if they have any questions. If you dont hear back, call again and offer to bring samples in to the show to them. Just keep the messages short and professional. Buyers are busy and it can take several calls to get them on the line. Good luck! Mary

put together a look book and mail it to stores GOOGLE what needs to go into a look book your item number size range and cost . (wholesale ) ... then once you have the look book and line sheet  sent out to your stores contact them and follow up . also you can do trade shows where stores from around the worls come to buy cloting for their store. there should be something in your area.
